Reels 1 & 2 shows pagodas and the Great Wall; worshipers at a Buddhist shrine; peasants plowing with oxen; a pack-animal train; a village council of elders; rivers and canals; a camel caravan; Christian missionaries and converts; Sun Yak-sen speaking; Chiang Kai-shek with Kuomintang members Kung and Soong; Chiang speaking and reviewing troops; truck and train transport of Army units; coolies repairing rails; and the Japanese bombing of Shanghai. Japanese planes bomb Chungking; fires are extinguished. Trucks move up and coolies repair the Burma Road.

Shows Chiang, F.D. Roosevelt, and Churchill at the Cairo Conference. Infantry units advance; artillery is fired. Shows Mao Tse-tung, Communist crowds, Red troops marching, and a Communist printing press. Steel is poured and electrical equipment produced in a factory. Chinese Independence Formosa - 1955 (HD)

Taipei Formosa 1955. VS, parades and demonstrations for the 44th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of China. VS, Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek, his wife, Maj. Gen. George Smythe, Ch of Military Assistance Advisory Group, and other American and Chinese officials leave the presidential mansion, take their places in the reviewing stand for the parade. VS, Gen. Smythe presents a F-76 fighter plane, 155 HOW, and a model of a destroyer to General Chiang-Kai-Shek as a token of esteem and American friendship. VS, masses of people forming a Chinese flag in the square. VS, Army, Navy, and Air Force cadets and soldiers parade past the review stand. Several units do a goosestep. Evacuation of Tachen Islands - 1955 (HD)

Story Of U.S. Army Signal Corps (HD) Ref#: BOF-04-042-54

The U.S. Army Signal Corps was established in 1863. This 1976 film shows progress in communications from the time signal flags were used up to the present day technical developments. Introduction of the telephone, message coding and decoding, radio-equipped aircraft, radar and research and development have greatly contributed to the Corps' effectiveness. Many outstanding military accomplishments are featured along with the training of personnel at the U.S. Army Signal School, Fort Gordon, Georgia.
