Meanwhile, behind the fighting lines, in Seoul, fifth columnists are rounded up and led away to stand trial. Back in the U.S., a hero’s welcome awaits crews of fighting ships back from Korean waters.
JIMMIE STEWART MOVIE "HARVEY” SPARKS DRIVE FOR FUND
“Harvey”, the six-foot rabbit who is never seen but whose motion picture story will be seen by millions, aids the Heart fund during the Manhattan premiere of the wonderful comedy starring Jimmie Stewart. Big Names in the Big Town are on hand for the opening.

U.N. FORCES RETREAT IN THE FACE OF COMMUNIST HORDES
The war in Korea again takes a bad turn for outnumbered United Nations forces. Seoul falls as Red Chinese hordes press down below the 38th Parallel hard on the heels of retreating Americans and their allies. Meanwhile, the war in the air provides spectacular action films. Captured communist films show Russian jets taking off from airfield. But Navy “Panther” jets score victories despite slower speed.
GENERAL DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER CONFIDENT ON ATLANTIC PACT
Prior to his departure for Europe to take over as commander of the unified defense forces there, General Eisenhower warns that the pact will only succeed if the U.S. and its allies make it succeed.
HITLER TREASURE ON THE BLACK MARKET
The black market brings to light interesting papers, paintings, documents and mementoes belonging to the Nazi warlord Adolph Hitler. The collection is valued at over $200,000.

President Harry S.Truman awards this nation’s highest award, the Congressional Medal of Honor, to the wives and parents of five American heroes who gave their lives for freedom in Korea. Mrs. Dean, wife of the missing General William F. Dean, is one of those honored by the President. Meanwhile, in Korea itself, U.N. forces continue to pull back before advancing communist armies.

General Dwight D. Eisenhower, commander of the Atlantic Pact nations, begins an on-the-spot tour of European countries in the alliance. Starting with the French, the famous U.S. war hero undertakes to find out the forces available to his anti-Red command.

All Americans join with the President in helping Larry and all the other sufferers from the dread disease. In New York, Jimmie Durante and other notables help get the campaign rolling.

Secretary Of State Dean Acheson bars any appeasement of Red China and says this country will press aggressor charges against Peiping.
CIVIL DEFENSE UPGRADED AS U.S. PREPARES IN CASE OF ATOMIC ATTACK
New York, and other big cities, gird for atomic bomb attack. Protected by anti-aircraft guns and fighter planes, New York begins recruiting civilian volunteers to help man its defense set-up. In central defense headquarters, an entire city can be alerted and controlled, with fire-fighters and rescue crews dispatched to the scene of danger.
TWO AIRCRAFT CARRIERS RECOMMISSIONED
Two carriers, the 'Essex' and the 'Bon Homme Richard' are taken out of mothballs and refitted for active duty. The 'Essex' will be able to handle atom-bomb carrying planes.

RED CHINA FOUND GUILTY OF AGGRESSION BY U.N. IN KOREA
By 44 to 7 vote the general assembly of the United Nations finds Communist China guilty of aggression in Korea, after a bitter debate lasting nine weeks.
SPEAKER SAM RAYBURN HONORED IN A SURPISE CEREMONY
WASHINGTON – In a surprise ceremony, Speaker Sam Rayburn of the House is presented with a gavel, made of wood taken from the White House during the present re-modeling.
KOREAN REFUGEES FIND HAVEN
