PARIS MOURNS VICTIMS OF LATEST TERRORIST BOMBINGS
Ten thousand demonstrators clash with Paris police as they protest terrorist bombings. The eight who died are buried in a mass ceremony and hundreds of thousands turn out - the largest crowd to assemble in Paris since Liberation Day.
MELTING SNOWS FLOOD NORTHWEST
An unseasonable warm spell swells creeks and rivers, raising havoc in Montana, Idaho and Wyoming. Idaho is especially hard hit with Pocatello, a city of 30,000 ninety percent under water. Six days of heavy rains in Los Angeles cause untold millions of dollars worth of damage there.
AIRCRAFT CARRIER 'CONSTELLATION' UPGRADES IT MILITARY PUNCH
The mighty carrier unveils greater fire power, 'Terrier' missiles which can ride their own radar beams and hit targets far beyond the range of conventional anti-aircraft shells.
WESTMINISTER KENNEL CLUB SHOW AT MADISON SQUARE GARDEN
It's the dogs' night to howl as 2,500 of them take over Madison Square Garden for the Westminster Kennel Club Show. It's a West Highland Terrier, 'Elfinbrook Simon' who captures the hearts of the crowd and the title of Best in Show.
'LOVER COMES BACK' HAS A FOUR THEATRE PREMIERE IN MIAMI, FLORIDA
There hasn't been such excitement in Miami Beach since Ponce de Leon passed through while searching for the Fountain of Youth. It's the four-theatre premiere of Universal International's new laugh feature with actor Tony Randall in attendance.
WOMEN SKI FOR WORLD SLALOM CROWN
The breath-taking beauty of Mont Blanc forms the backdrop for the women's world championship in the slalom. Barbara Ferries, 17, of the U.S.A., does pretty well but no one touches Austrian Marianne John, who wins her sixth straight slalom race.

GALE FORCE WINDS AND FLOODS DEVASTATE WEST COAST OF EUROPE
The worst storm in a decade lashes at the West Coast of Europe, leaving tens of thousands homeless as heavy seas are pushed inland by gale winds. From Scotland to the Scandinavian Peninsula devastation is great. Most of the dead and missing, more than 250 persons, are from the area around Hamburg.
SON OF U.S. AMBASSADOR TO U.N. ADLAI STEVENSON MARRIES
The son of Adlai Stevenson, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations is married at Big Sur, California to Natalie Owings. The Ambassador is Best Man for his youngest son.
EDWARD KENNEDY VISITS GREECE
While his brother Robert tours the Far East, Edward Kennedy stops in Greece for an unofficial visit. He tours the famed ruins and discusses conditions with Greece's Prime Minister.
THRILLS AT TRACK AND FIELD MEET
There's another new shot-put record established by Gary Gubner at the New York Athletic Club and Jim Beatty of Los Angeles turns in a mile run just two seconds slower than the record he set the week before.
AUSTRIANS CAPTURE SKI RUN
The Austrians take the first three places in the World Giant Slalom Championships at Chamonix, France. The Aga Khan is an entrant, but he finishes no better than 37th as Egon Zimmerman takes first place.

NASA ASTRONAUT JOHN GLENN THRILLS WORLD IN A U.S. SPACE TRIUMPH
A comprehensive picture report on the historic flight of Colonel John H. Glenn, Jr., in his 'Friendship 7'. As the world watches dozens of cameras record each phase of the flight from the pre-dawn hours until his arrival aboard the aircraft carrier 'Randolph'.

A camera in the mercury capsule catches some remarkable pictures showing the grinning reactions of Colonel Glenn as he girdles the globe three times. Nearly everything about the flight is perfect; small mechanical malfunctions are quickly corrected by the astronaut and he comes back to earth within a few miles of a pre-determined area.

THE RETURN OF THE CONQUERING SPACE HERO
The family of the man of the hour, Colonel John H. Glenn, Jr., greet him at Patrick Air Force Base near Cape Canaveral for the first time since his great saga in space. There’s a poignant scene of Mrs. Glenn snatching a few secret moments with her husband before cheering throngs claim their new hero.

President John F. Kennedy awards Astronaut Glenn the Space Administration’s distinguished service medal, praising his 'unflinching courage in performing difficult tasks under conditions of great physical stress and personal danger.'

Then the Nation’s Capitol turns out 250,000 strong to cheer the astronaut as he is driven from the White House to the Capitol Building to address a joint session of Congress.

With quiet pride Colonel Glenn calls for the recognition of the team that helped him in space and looked to a great future of exploration in other worlds, saying:  'as our knowledge of the universe in which we live increases, may God grant us the wisdom and guidance to use it wisely.'

Triumph and Tragedy in New York. Just an hour before the arrival of Astronaut John Glenn's plane in New York, a jet liner crashes as it takes off from a nearby airport. Killing all 95 aboard.
