L. B. J. in Surprise Visit To Vietnam:
Following in the end of the seven-nation Manila Conference, President Johnson visits Corregidor in the end makes a surprise visit to Camranh Bay, South Vietnam, to inspect, decorate, eat, joke, and visit informally with the troops. It is the first visit to a war zone by an American president since 1943.

Notre Dame Trounces Oklahoma:
At Norman, Oklahoma, The Sooners go against Notre Dame. Both are undefeated. Terry Hanratty's passing, Jim Seymour's receptions and the running of Nick Eddy and Bob Bleir maintain the Irish number one national ranking. Final score, Irish 38, Sooners 0.

L. B. J. In Thailand:
President and Mrs. Johnson make a two-day visit to Bangkok, Thailand. The King and Queen greet them and thousands lined the street, offering a traditionally dignified and formal welcome. Mrs. Johnson visits a floating market and the traditional fingernail dance is performed for the presidential couple.

Welch Village Mourns:
Eighty-one children, all victims of a slag landslide in the Welsh mining village of Aberfan, are laid to rest in a hillside cemetery. The mass funeral draws thousands of mourners. A giant cross of flowers overlooks the single, trench grave.

Dartmouth Downs Yale:
At Yale Bowl, New Haven, Dartmouth wins its 10th ivory league victory in its last 11 starts over two seasons. The big green tops the Elis, 28 to 13. Mickey Beard throws two touchdown passes for Dartmouth as they hold the number two ivory league spot.

L. B. J. Comes Home:
Washington turns out to greet the homecoming President after his whirlwind Asian and Pacific tour. He terms the trip, thrilling, rewarding, encouraging. Next day, he announces he will undergo minor surgery.

California Inferno:
Fourteen are killed in raging brush and forest fires which sweep across a 100-mile area in Southern California. Ten veteran U. S. Forest Service firefighters and four Marines at Camp Pendleton Parish in the battle against the fires.

Arkansas swamps Texas A & M:
In a nighttime Southwestern comforts game, the Razorbacks clobber the Aggies in a one-sided contest. Sophomore tailback Dave Dickey scores for touchdowns for Arkansas. A A 59-yard punt return notches another. Final score Arkansas-- 34, A & M-- 0.

Florida Takes Auburn:
The University of Florida's great quarterback Steve Spurrier pulls out a win against Auburn in the last two minutes. His 40-yard field goal breaks a 27-all tie, giving Florida the victory in 30 to 27. The pros are scouting Spurrier.

Giant Dam Project:
A gigantic triple-sided project along the U. S.-Canadian border is building three dams for control of the powerful Columbia River and the harnessing of its power. The project will prevent the district chief floods of the past in this area.

Teen Dancers Show Style:
In West Berlin, youngsters from eight to fourteen compete in the first International Dance Contest for children. The quick-step and cha-cha are featured in the kids show some very fancy steps. Two London youngsters are declared winners.

Sports -- -- Prison Rodeo Thriller:
At Texas State prison in Huntsville, convicts ride Broncos and bulls in the 35th annual prison rodeo. The proceeds help to build up educational and recreation funds. Each inmate-cowboy takes pride in his ride -- -- win, lose, or fall.

Election Day, 1966
Voters fled the polls To Elect Governors, Senators, Congressmen and other state and local leaders. Republicans gain 47 House seats, three Senate seats, and eight governorships. Among the key victories are Romney in Michigan, Percy in Illinois, a Reagan in California and Rockefeller in New York.

Gift to Medicine:
At U. C. L. A, the six-million-dollar Jules Stein Eye Institute is dedicated. The institute is the nation's most modern eye research, teaching, and treatment Center. Dr. Stein, and MCA Board Chairman, is a former ophthalmologist. The institute is the realization of a personal goal.

Minnesota Tops Northwestern:
At Evanston, Illinois Northwestern plays host to the Golden Gophers of Minnesota. Minnesota quarterback Curt Wilson throws two touchdown passes and carries for a third. Northwestern scores twice but it's a Gopher victory. Final score Minnesota 28, Northwestern 13.

Flood the aftermath In Italy:
In Florence, Italy, mud and rubble tilts the streets in the wake of the devastating flood. The Arno River, swollen by torrential rains, smashes its banks and wrecks havoc on this art capital of the world. 31 did, $2 million in damage to art alone.

Niagara Falls Slowed:
In a special one day cleanup and inspection operation the mighty waters of Niagara Falls or reduce to a trickle. U.S. Army Engineers divert the flow over at the horse shoe falls while workers remove debris from the base of the falls and inspect erosion.

Horse Racing Thrillers:
The Wheatley Stable's Successor Wins the Garden State Stakes and $188,000 in racing's richest stake race. A day before, at Laurel, Maryland, the Washington D. C. International Is won by Behistoun of France in a Tremendous Finishing Burst of Speed.

Army Downs California:
At Berkeley, Army Faces the University of California and Comes out on Top. The Passing Arm of Sophomore Quarterback Steve Lindell Moves The Cadet Offense and Chuck Jarvis Scores On a six-Yard end Sweep. California's 43-Yard Field Goal Gives Them the Short end of a 6 to 3 Final Score.

Presidential Surgery:
At Bethesda Naval Hospital, a 53-minute double operation repairs an abdominal hernia and removes tissue from President Johnson's vocal cord. The tissue is found to be benign. An extended rest is scheduled at his Texas ranch following hospitalization.

Thrilling Gemini finale:
The final flight of the Gemini space program, Gemini 12, caps the project on a note of triumph. Astronauts Lovell and Aldrin returned with films showing Aldrin's record-breaking working spacewalk of over two hours. Next step: Apollo program -- -- aimed toward the moon.

Lunar Orbiter Two:
Potential landing sites for a future American Astronauts on the moon are photographed By a Lunar Orbiter Two, a Flying Photo Lab. The Sites, Taken from an Altitude of 30 Miles, Show a Flat Equatorial Plain, Marked with Craters. In All, 13 Landing Sites Will Be Photographed.

Indian Beauty Wins Crown:
At London's Lyceum Ballroom, 52 girls from around the globe compete for the title Miss World. Among the finalists are the Misses Brazil, India, Greece, Italy, Norway, Yugoslavia and U.S.A. Miss India, Reita Faria, a medical student, wins the crown.

Notre Dame 10, Michigan State 10
80,000 fans jam Spartan Stadium, East Lansing, for the game of the century -- --Notre Dame versus Michigan State. With one touchdown and one field goal each, the struggle ends in a 10-10 tie. Quarterbacks Jimmy Raye For State and Coley O'Brien for the Irish are brilliant in leading their teams.

Kennedy Memorial:
Some 11,000 persons visited President Kennedy's grave site in Arlington national Cemetery on the third anniversary of his assassination. Members of the Kennedy family leave floral tributes along with a squad of Green Berets.

Lord Mayor's Show:
In London, the world's capital reviews its past and present in the annual Lord Mayor's Show, a tradition dating back to the year 1215. Sir Robert Bellinger reviews the gala parade and rides and his ornate Lord mayor's coach.

Los Angeles Zoo:
America's newest city zoo opens in Los Angeles. It covers 110 acres and cost $10 million. Some 575 species of animals and birds are included in its population of 3000. In the children's zoo, youngsters pit and feed the animals.

Sandy Koufax Retires:
Sandy Koufax, star left-hander all the Los Angeles Dodgers, announces his retirement from baseball. Painful arthritis in his left elbow forces him out of the game. His career record, including for no-hitters, will earn him a spot in the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Art Restorations: Gigantic Task Begins in Florence:
The city of Florence, Art Museum to the world, begins the gigantic task of cleaning and restoring its priceless art, damaged by the recent floods. Rare books and paintings or painstakingly dried and treated. Experts say it's a job that'll take 20 years.

Santa's Season: Parades and Kids Preview Holidays.
In both New York and Toronto, Canada, Santa Claus is welcomed to town with gala parades. These annual Christmas processions include gigantic balloons, floats, storybook and fairyland heroes. It's a big day for the children -- -- and parents too.

Sports -- -- Army-Navy Game:
Before 102000 and John F. Kennedy Stadium, Philadelphia, an underdog Army team trips over Navy, 20 to 7. Tied seven-all in the third quarter, Army sophomore quarterback Steve Lindell tosses touchdown passes to Terry Young and Carl Woessner for the win.
