Affidavits that attest to authenticity scenes in film are shown and read. Film shows map of concentration and labor camps throughout Europe.
At Hannover (i.e.,Harlan) Concentration Camp, Red Cross club mobile provides survivors with food and clothing while a sergeant checks list of inmates. Survivors relate conditions at camp and photographs are made to further documentation.
At Arnstadt Concentration Camp, villagers are forced to exhume Russian and Polish bodies.
At Buchenwald Concentration Camp, Army truck arrives with aid for survivors. Piles of dead, mutilated and emaciated bodies with some survivors among the dead. Ovens and piles of bone ash on floor of crematorium. Weimar citizens forced to tour camp. They are shown lamp shades made of human skin, shrunken heads and human skin parchment used for painting pictures.
At Mauthausen Concentration Camp, U.S. Navy Lieutenant stands among other survivors and describes his capture, imprisonment and conditions of the camp.
At Dachau Concentration Camp, scenes of site and priests from Germany, Poland, Czechoslovakia, France and Holland. Prison train box car with intermingled emaciated bodies of survivors and corpses stacked upon each other. In an open train car, bodies are buried under a blanket of snow; dead from exposure. Prisoners bury dead after liberation. Local townspeople are forced to view camp. Tour of gas chamber includes clothing changing area, shower bath area, dummy shower heads, intake and outlet pipes, inflow and outtake gas valves. Tour of crematory and shots of survivors.
British commander of Royal Artillery describes conditions at Bergen-Belsen Concentration Camp. German Army Schutzstaffel SS troops are forced to bury dead and aid survivors. Woman doctor, a prisoner herself, describes conditions at the female section of camp. Belsen commander Kramer is taken into custody. Guards bury dead. Bulldozer pushes piles of bodies into mass graves.
