June 1940. Shadow of the conquering German Armies covers Western Europe. Paris had fallen, Hitler views the Eiffel Tower and German troops march through the Arc de Triomphe. After Dunkirk, Hitler stood at Calais France and looked across the English Channel at the last country standing between him and world conquest----
Shows Hitler and staff looking at maps on table and preparing invasion plans. Animation is used to show Hitler’s plan to invade England and conquer America. Shows German troops and equipment massing for invasion across the English Channel. Flashback to scenes of Dunkirk. Shows British invasion defense training and women aiding the war effort. Citizens greet Winston Churchill and listen to his broadcast we shall never surrender. This was Briton’s darkest hour.

Air raid siren sounds. Shows many scenes of air raid wardens and observers. Shows German planes attaching supply convoy in the Channel. RAF pilots rush to man planes. Spitfires take off to engage the German aircraft. Gun camera footage aerial combat and dog fights and of German planes being shot down. Shows rescue of British pilots from the English Channel. Shows industrial cities bombed but production continues.

In September, the attacks are turned to London, to crush the spirit of the people. Children are sent from the city. Shows activities during air raids. Footage shows damage and destruction of buildings, dead and wounded British, air raid shelters, and scarred London landmarks. General Hermann Goring with Hitler as they plan night attacks.

Shows the determination of the British people; citizens comment on the raids. English planes bomb a German target. Coventry is flattened in retaliation. Records the London bombing on Christmas Eve, causing the largest fire in recorded history. Water is pumped from the Thames.
