This is a record of the events, political leaders and the escalation of conflicts that coalesced into a global conflagration that brought death and destruction of unprecedented proportions to every corner of the planet.
Poland September 1,1939. Scenes of German troops invading Poland. Neville Chamberlain told the world Britain and France would come to the aid of Poland. Shows goose stepping German troops marching.
Scenes depicting misery, inflation, and financial difficulty was followed by social disorder (mobs) and political conflict (large crowds) after World War I. This gave rise to such dictators as Benito Mussolini and the Fascist Party in Italy. In Germany Hitler and the Nazi Party came to power. In Japan the Imperialist and Emperor Hirohito took control of the government.
Manchuria 1931. Scenes of the Japanese invasion of Manchuria. Shows Japanese Representative walking out as Japan withdrew from the League of Nations after the Lord Lytton report condemning the invasion of Manchuria.
Ethiopia 1935. Italy invades Ethiopia. Shows Haille Selassie at the podium at a session of the League of Nations (holding paper, but not speaking). Italian tanks on the move in Ethiopia.
German troops occupy the Rhineland in 1936 as the people cheer and wave.
Scenes of the Spanish Civil War 1936-1939. Shows the death (dead bodies) of this war.
China 1937 is invaded by Japan. Austria occupied by Germany in 1938.
Hitler demands the Sudetenland. Eduard Benes, President of Czechoslovakia, speaks out. Shows Neville Chamberlain, British Prime Minster, preparing to leave Britain and being greeted by Hitler on the first of three trips he would make to Germany.

Munich Conference September 29 & 30, 1938. Shows Hitler, Mussolini, Chamberlain, and Daladier signing the Munich Pact giving the Sudetenland to Germany. Shows Chamberlain waving the Munich Pact upon his returns to Britain. Shows French Prime Minster Edouard Daladier return to France. In less than six months Germany tanks rolls into Prague.
