In the summer of 1942 England was still suffering from the German air attacks. Scenes of destruction of buildings. Life became bleaker due to scarcity of food. Ration sign at meat market read “Please Do Not Ask For More Than Your Ration, As A Denial Often Offends”. The American High Command was faced with unique problems as the congested areas of England tried to absorb 2,000,0000 Americans that would someday form the invasion force. Shows great number of barrage balloons over key targets.
Allied b-29 bombers take off for a daylight raid over Germany. Bombers are attacked by German fighter planes. Scenes of B-29 gunners in action. Shows heavy flak when bombers reach the target area. View of target through a bombsight. Bombs away, shows bombs falling from the plane and ground explosions.
Action on the Russian front. To relieve pressure on the Russians, the first ground offensive against German forces was planned and given the code name torch. It was to be an invasion of French North Africa under the control of the Vichy French Regime. Shows the Port of Algiers, Spain Dictator Francisco Franco, and Marshall Philippe Petain of the Vichy Regime.
