This film documents the invasion of French North Africa at Algiers, Oran, and Casablanca, called operation Torch. Shows the logistics of converting American industry from peacetime to wartime production and the railroad transportation system to the task of moving vast quantities of war equipment and supplies to seaports.
American and British ships loaded with troops and supplies sail for the landings beaches in North Africa. Troop training continues on the troop transports.
American industry gears up for full wartime production. Shows General Brehon Somervell, head of the Army Services Forces. Scenes of railroad yard, women producing life rafts, manufacturing of airplanes, tank factory. Tanks and military trucks on railroad cars, and loading of cargo ships with military equipment. Shows a ship underway in heavy seas. Shows LST’s loaded with troops headed to landing beaches. The first Allied offensive of WWII had been successful.
