Fighting in France. Allied forces successfully fight off a German counter attack and planned a pincher move that would trap thousands of German troops. Shows RAF Typhoon aircraft firing rockets at German positions. Map of the Allied planned pincher movement. Canadian 1st Army moved from the north toward Falaise while Patton’s U.S. 3rd Army moved up toward Argentan. This operation became known as the Battle of Argentan or closing the Argentan-Falaise Gap or Battle of The Falaise Pocket. The Canadian 1st Army and American 3rd Army met and effectively trapped thousands of Germans. Shows French patriots searching German prisoners of war (pow’s). Lines of German pow’s marching with hands behind head. Shows destroyed German tanks, trucks, bodies of dead German soldiers, and animals along roads in the Falaise area.

Allied Forces roll toward Paris through the newly liberated French towns. Flashback to 1940 and the occupation of Paris by German Occupation troops and German troops on liberty from the frontlines. Shows French resistance toward the Nazi Occupation Forces. After the Normandy Invasion the French resistance fighters were formed into the FFI (French Forces of the Interior). As the Allied forces approached Paris the FFI started the long planned revolt against the German Occupation Forces. Shows a Molotov cocktail thrown at a German truck setting it on fire. German soldiers on fire roll from truck. Fighting in the streets of Paris. The French 2nd Division under the command of general Leclerc enters Paris. Street fighting in Paris continued against German snipers. Shows captured German soldiers. General De Gaulle enters Paris. Shows Allied forces firing back at members of the Vichy Regime that opened sniper fire on throngs welcoming General De Gaulle. General Eisenhower and General Bradley are shown in Paris.
