Poland September 1939. Captured German films show German armored columns assembled for the assault on Poland. The world was introduced to a new kind of warfare, Blitzkrieg or Lightning War, which involved massive use of tanks, motorized infantry, and planes.
The free city of Danzig is attacked. Shows the last stand of Polish resistance in the Danzig Post Office building. The Post Office building is shelled, sprayed with gasoline, and burned. German machine gunners advance on motorcycles. Tanks advance. A Polish town is burned and occupied. The Germans quickly repair a bridge over the Vistula and continue to advance. German troops rest in transit. Shows Germans cleaning weapons and making repairs to equipment. A German ship shells Gdynia.
German planes make aerial photographs. Aerial photographs are studied by the Nazi Staff to plan air war. Planes are readied for a mission. Bombers and Stukas hit targets. German artillery and infantry attack Warsaw. The city is taken. Polish soldiers surrendering weapons. Shows lines (columns) of Polish prisoners and captured Polish weapons. German troops (Goose Step) parade in Warsaw.
