VS, soldiers and officers of the Fire Support Center look for fragments of Vietcong mortar shells which fell in the 1st Cavalry Division area. They are checking to find out which direction the mortars were fired from. shrapnel holes in CONEX containers caused by the Vietcong mortar rounds.

This is at Hammond Airfield six kilometers north of Phu Cat, Vietnam. Hammond Airfield was named in honor of Sergeant First Class Russell E. Hammond who had been killed in action a few months before.

A Vietnamese informer looks at each suspect. Vietnamese interpreter manhandles a Vietcong as he interrogates him. He grabs him by the throat and shakes him. An American officer looks on.
