USS Franklin Arrives In New York
The damaged aircraft carrier USS Franklin (CV-13) arrives New York City on April 29, 1945. The carrier, nicknamed “Big Ben” was hit by two bombs dropped by a lone Japanese plane before dawn on March 19, 1945 while operating within 50-miles of the Japanese mainland.
