Allied Central Europe Campaign - Mopping Up In Germany

Footage of the Allied Central Europe Campaign and the overrunning of Germany in the final weeks of WWII. The German city of Aschaffenburg is captured after pin-point bombing by Allied dive bombers ahead of the U.S. 3rd Army troops. Shows damaged and destroyed German Army military equipment left along roadways of Germany. People in German towns wave white flag of surrender as tanks of the U.S. Third Army rolls through the towns and villages. Shows the U.S. armored column halting it's advance and deploying to attack a pocket of German resistance. Shows tanks and half-track firing guns as the infantry sweeps around to attack the German defenses. Shows Germans Officers with white flag surrendering troops under their command.

The U.S. 1st Army locates American POWs in a German prisoner of war camp for U.S. Airmen. Shows liberated U.S. POWs leaving prisoner of war camp in Germany. In the little village of Nieheim civilians loot goods from a train loaded with German Army supplies. Troops of General Patton's 3rd Army move into Frankfurt Germany. Shows street by street fighting by U.S. Infantry in Frankfurt Germany. Shows bodies of dead German soldiers. Civilians with somber expressions watch as U.S. troops move into Frankfurt. Shows thousands of German soldiers that surrendered to Allied Forces as Germany is overrun in final weeks of WWII.
