Japanese troops embark for Manchuria (1931). Shanghai lies in ruins (1937). The Japanese delegation leaves the League of Nations. War rages in China. Italian troops invade Ethiopia. Franco’s troops guard Madrid. A party celebrates the Axis pact of 1940 between Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy, and Imperial Japan. Chinese refugees clog the streets as China alone continued their fight against Japan.
Japanese Ambassador Nomura and Special Envoy Saburo Kurusu arrive in Washington. Pearl Harbor is attacked. Remnants of the U.S. Fleet assemble. Amphibious assault on Guadalcanal.
