Battle of Balikpapan July 1, 1945 was the concluding stage Oboe 2 of the Operation Oboe. Oboe 2 was the last major amphibious assault of WWII. Allies land at Balikpapan, a seaside city on the east coast of the island of Borneo, during the Borneo Campaign of 1945. General Douglas MacArthur supervises a naval bombardment and the amphibious assault upon Borneo.
