Congressman Francis E. Walter, Chairman of The House Committee On Un-American Activities (HUAC), explains that Operation Abolition is a Communist plot designed to abolish the Un-American Activities Committee.
Scenes of City Hall in San Francisco as the protestors carry sign and march to protest the Un-American Activities Committee hearings. Congressman Willis explains the purpose of the hearings. Scene of Harry Bridges being escorted out of City Hall. Archie Brown, identified as the number two man in the California Communist Party, distributes propaganda material. Merrill Bronski another Communist Party Member is also shown.
Scenes inside hearing room as agitators are ejected. HUAC sends out subpoenas for its San Francisco hearing, including one to eighteen-year-old UC Berkeley sophomore and SLATE member, Douglas Wachter. Scenes of Wachter testifying. At noon recess there is a protest rally at Union Square.
The hearings and other business activities at City Hall are disrupted by the demonstrators. The demonstration at City Hall turns into a riot as police move in to restore order. Police use water hoses to force students demonstrators out of the building. Riot Police remove protestors one by one from City Hall and into waiting paddy wagons. Scenes of protestors being booked at police station.
