From the dawn of history mankind has reveled an unconquerable urge to improve his lot and recognized the need to harness different forms of energy. However, it took centuries for man to recognize oil as a source of energy. Early uses for oil was a pipeline medicine and to produce light. In 1859 the first oil derrick was constructed near an oil seep to drill for oil. At the turn of the century with the advent of the automobile powered by an internal combustion engine the growth of the oil industry was assured.

Shows early cable tool method and rotary drill method of drilling an oil well. Animation is used to explain the process of refining crude oil into gasoline, kerosene, diesel fuel, lubricating oil, asphalt and other petroleum products.

Shows distribution of gasoline and other oil products by pipeline, railroad cars and tanker trucks. Service station and 1950’s Cadillac automobile. Shows the many uses of oil products such as citrus grove smudge pots, to power farm tractors and machinery, and construction equipment.
