President Bush sought to reassure Americans that the economy will eventually recover from the global financial crisis, but he cautioned that it's going to take time and will not easy. There is no question about it we are in tough times. Have faith, this economy will recover President Bush said.

With stock markets falling around the world and economic anxieties growing President Bush acknowledged the steep drop in retirement funds and other savings.

The president said the $700 billion rescue plan approved by Congress last week will free up credit lines for businesses and families which is the heart of the problem.

After his remarks President Bush took questions.
