The open hearth gang let the molten steel out of the furnace. The pit gang throw in the special alloys for this batch of steel. A ladle of molten steel is moved over to a line of ingot molds. The ingots are moved to the blooming mill by rail for shaping. Scenes of shaping steel ingots into slabs. The slabs are then cut into specified lengths. The cut slabs are then rolled or flattened into long sheets of steel.
