Synopsis: On September 17, 1976 the Space Shuttle Enterprise was rolled out of Rockwell's plant at Palmdale, California. The Enterprise, NASA Orbiter Designation OV-101, was the first Space Shuttle orbiter. It was built for NASA as part of the Space Program to perform test flights in the atmosphere. Shows the Enterprise being transported by road to Dryden Flight Research Center At Edwards Air Force Base to began operational testing. Shows shuttle in mating-de-mating structure or device and mounted on the 747 aircraft. Introduces the four Astronauts Joe Engle, Richard Truly, Fred Haise, and Gordon Fullerton. Shows the 747 airplane as it takes off with shuttle on top and in flight. Describes training the astronauts received. Animation of a space shuttle flight into space and return.
