President John F. Kennedy Orders Military Blockade Of Cuba
President John F. Kennedy imposes a Naval and Air 'quarantine' on the shipment of offensive military equipment to Cuba. In a speech of extraordinary gravity, he tells the American people that the Soviet Union, contrary to promises, is building offensive missile and bomber bases in Cuba that could fire nuclear warheads up to 2,000 Miles. He calls the Russians responsible and says the U.S. would retaliate directly against the Soviets if a missile is ever fired from Cuba.
