Proposals Introduced To End Turkish - Greek Feud Over The Island Of Cyprus
The tinderbox that is Cyprus threatens to erupt into a full-scale war. Greek students demonstrate against British and United States proposals that a force of NATO troops should help maintain a truce between Greeks and Turks. The Western powers are leary of a U.N. Force that would give the Russians a voice. Bombings and murders are rife as the island verges on International conflict.

Music Group 'The Beatles' Arrive In The United States
There are rumors around that this is Britain’s revenge for the Boston Tea Party. You guessed it, 'The Beatles' have arrived in the United States for their first appearance before an idolizing teen crowd, with the St. Vitus bounce. They take an airing in Central Park and, no, there is no truth to the buzz that the Zoo’s laughing hyena was driven underground.

New Orleans Mardi Gras Is Bigger And Better Than Ever
The traditional New Orleans Mardi Gras is bigger and better than ever as parades continue through day and night. Pretty girls and grotesque floats all add up to fun, fun, fun for one and all.
Austria
Upsets Mark The Winter Olympic Games
Canada’s four-man bobsled team thunders to an upset as they beat the favored Austrian quartet by a fraction over one second.
In the Men’s Slalom, it’s the United States turn to upset the ski-pole. Billy Kidd takes second place and his teammate, Jimmy Heuga, takes third as Josef Stiegler of Austria wins a Gold Medal for his team. It’s the first win for the United States in Men’s Alpine Skiing.
There’s another upset in the Men’s Figure Skating as Manfred Schnelldorfer of Germany pirouettes his way to the crown. He upsets Alain Calmat of France who had three spills and placed second.
Scott Allen, just 14 years old, wins a third-place Bronze Medal for the United States while winning the hearts of the crowd as well.
