Synopsis: Four US Air Force pilots from 363rd Tactical Reconnaissance Wing take part in Operation Sun Run which established 3 new transcontinental speed records using the reconnaissance version of the MacDonnell F-101 jet fighter with two to fly round-trip from Los Angeles to New York and back again, two for the one-way flight from Los Angeles to New York all of which would not be possible without the support of the KC-135 Stratotanker America's first jet tanker which allowed aerial refuelling during the operation - the new Los Angeles to New York record was established by Lt. Klatt, at 3 hours, 7 minutes and 43.63 seconds. Capt.
