East Germany Closes Its Border
The attention of an anxious world is focused on East and West Germany and Berlin. The last great exodus of refugees from the East is processed at the Marienfelde Center as the Communist German regime moves to close its border against further flights to West Germany.

Troops swooped down on the border between Red Berlin and the Free City in the pre-dawn hours to close routes between the sectors. East Berliners were told to give up their jobs in the West and Mayor Willy Brandt called on all Berliners to keep calm and avoid provoking Soviet Troops who took up positions along side their East German counterparts.

New World Record In Swin Meet
Becky Collins, a-17-year-old lass from Indianapolis, cracked the world record in the 200-meter Butterfly Swim in 2:32.8. She displayed perfect form in out-swimming her competition in Philadelphia's Kelly pool. In the 10-meter platform diving Barbara McAllister had what it takes to win the AAU crown.

Saratoga Welcomes The Horses
Pictures of 30 years ago should bring a nostalgic tear to the eye of the old-timer films that show Saratoga horse racetrack as it was in the days of more leisure in the famed resort. Their passion then, as now, was horses and today's 97th running of the Travers proved a thriller as race horse 'Beau Prince' ran away with the classic.

Street scenes of people, automobiles, and stores of Saratoga Springs, New York in the early 1930’s and later in 1961. Scene of the famed Lincoln Baths building and bath pricing sign.
