The five children of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Fisher of Aberdeen, S.D. took the news in stride. They now have four new sisters and a brother in a quintuplet birth that occurs once in 54,000,000 times. The quints faced heavy odds to become the first United States quintuplets to survive infancy.

The typhoon season in the Far East begins on a note of tragedy as the Island of Taiwan is hit by Typhoon Gloria. So far nearly one hundred have been found dead and many hundreds injured. As the waters from a 40-hour rain receded a count of destroyed homes passed the 3,000 mark.
