Baseball Roger Maris Ties Home Run Mark Set By Babe Ruth
The 'will he or won't he' question is answered by the bat of Roger Maris as he hits his 60th home run to tie legendary Babe Ruth's record set in 1927. He'll be in the record book, but with a footnote: Ruth made his 60-round trippers in 154 games; Maris made his in the l59th game of the expanded schedule.

TWENTY FIVE YEARS AGO:

Yes, 25 years ago, this was not an unusual baseball picture; the New York Yankees playing in the World Series against the New York Giants. Yankee Manager, Joe McCarthy - Giants Manager, Bill Terry. Carl Hubbell and Red Ruffing (opposing pitchers – not shown) Babe Ruth, guest of honor, is shown in the stands.

New York was also in the midst of hectic preparations for its World's Fair and Grover Whalen points out highlights of the great exposition to visiting dignitaries.

Highways were crowded then and a helicopter with folding blades was designed to fly to an airport and then complete its journey through the city streets.

The Germans came up with a switch on the tandem bike with this one as a boy and girl ride side by side on one set of wheels.
