US 7th Fleet Covers Evacuation To Formosa (Taiwan)
Ships f the U.S. 7th Fleet cover the evacuation of the Tachen Islands. Red China has been warned interference will mean war – and there’s no incident as Nationalist soldiers and 14,000 civilians are loaded aboard transports for the trip to Formosa. As they leave, military installations are demolished, to minimize the islands’ usefulness to the Red Chinese.
