The Korean War: The Forgotten War ("a thru z" titles)
Declared a "Police Action" by some, make no mistake, this was a brutal, ugly war fueled by opposing political ideologies. Our Public Domain Stock Footage titles detail the transition of post World War II to the Cold War and the rise of Communism to the U.N. intervention in Korea and subsequent American combat troops, the Inchon Landings and the division of North Korea And South Korea at the 38th parallel.

Marines Retreat In Korea - 1950 (HD)

At the Kotori Airstrip (Snow in all scenes). Marines carrying a wounded man and putting him aboard an L-5 plane. C-47 plane landing on strip. Marines loading wounded on litters aboard C-47. CU, wounded on litter as he waits to be put aboard plane; he looks at the camera. LS, line of vehicles. MLS, MS, exhausted marine walks toward camera. Marine with a Korean boy who was wounded in a fire fight. The lad is in pain. They lift him carefully from jeep, put him on litter. Pan, marines standing at area at Kotori. It is snowing. CU, tired marine with growth of beard looking at camera. Marines carrying their equipment, boxes of rations, march by during snowfall.

Shot made from inside of C-47 as wounded are brought in. CU, wounded man on litter. Marine helping wounded man - looks like a Korean. Marine standing next to a wounded man - he has blanket wrapped around him. His forehead and face, bandaged. Chinese prisoner coming out of hut. Marine guard orders him forward. Chinese prisoners being marched in the snow under guard. Casualty is put aboard an L-5. FS, L-5 taxiing off. Another casualty being put in L-5; plane door closes. Some marines bringing in Chinese prisoners. 2nd Bn marines, 1st Marine Div laying down barrage with 81mm mortar. Marine taking mortar shells out of cases - they are having some difficulty, seem frozen. Marine walking to sign which reads, "Panicky Pocket Airstrip constructed by the Engineers". Line of marines; some of them are carrying wounded on their back.

One man carrying a wounded man helps him into plane. LS, plane flying low over ground dropping supply chutes. Marine helping another limping across the field. Men warming themselves around a wood fire. One man is drying innersoles. Pan, marines in sleeping bags covered with snow. MS, man in snow-covered sleeping bag puts his head up. MS, men warm themselves, eating around wood fire during snowfall. MS, two men, one opening can of rations - looks up to camera. Men adjusting their packs during driving snow. Group of marines posing for the camera, smile. One man drinks from a tin can, then passes it around. CU, other marines, some smile despite hardhips. Another group of marines - look very tired. The two in front look twd camera, smile and look at each other. No Captions.

Refugee Evacuation Korea - Volume 1 (HD)

Korean language proclamation ordering the evacuation of non-residents (refugees) from Chunchon Korea 1952. HS, natives read the edict. Shot of young girl who carries an infant on her back, bundles on her head and in her hands. VS, Chunchon street scenes. Natives walk in the dirt street, shop among the stalls. HSs, busy street; view of the congested roof-tops. Other street scenes; a group of children pose; shot of a native and young girl; one of the shots shows a GI in a stall almost surrounded by children. Native women shop at a fish stall.

VS, native families enter collection area carrying their possessions on backs and heads, one family uses a cart. Some carry staggering loads. LSs, GI drivers enter their trucks which leave the 55th Trk Bn area to pick up the evacuees. Seq: Footage of natives and their children as they stand about and await transportation at collection area. One group of natives stands in line behind a truck. MS, an old couple smoke cigarettes. A baby sits between the legs of the old woman. A group of undesirables, including four prostitutes unload from a truck. VS, as natives load onto trucks. Group of natives await arrival of more trucks. Pan l/r along row of trucks crammed with evacuees and their goods. Orphan boys in trucks wait to leave. Boys wave as the trucks drive off.

Refugee Evacuation Korea - Volume 2 (HD)

Chunchon, Hoengsong, Korea 1952. Along with other refugees, the family of Kim Mahn Bok detruck at the Hoengsong receiving point. Kim removes the family's goods from the truck trailer and lashes it to an A-frame. The family pile their goods on the ground as they wait. Kim registers the family's arrival with a native UNCACK official. The Kim family appear to walk away from the area with all their goods. A UNCACK officer doles a ration (uncooked brown rice?) into a bag held by smiling Kim. Kim and family carry their goods to a native hut where they unload. VS, truck convoy, most of the vehicles towing trailers, drives from the collection area on various roads. An MP directs truck traffic at Chunchon corner against background of bombed building. Shots of traffic moving on dirt roads. LSs as convoy drives on mountain curve. Other shots as MP directs jeep and truck traffic.

U.N. Forces Move North - 1951 (HD)

Reel 2: (part 1)
U.S. tanks and South Korean 57 mm. field guns and 81 mm. mortars fire on Chinese positions in the hills. Machine gunners and snipers fire as infantry advance.

Reel 2: (part 2)
25th Infantry Division troops reach the outskirts of Seoul and a Chinese prisoner is brought in for questioning. Patrols exchange fire with the Chinese across the Han River.

Reel 2: (part 3)
U.S. troops advance against stiffening Chinese resistance on the central front. Tanks fire into the hills, Chinese prisoners are rounded up, and C-119s air drop supplies. Part 4, U.S. infantry attempt to storm Hill 584 under cover of an artillery and mortar barrage but are repulsed by dug-in Chinese.

U.N. Counterattack - 1951

Reel 1: (part 1)
Troops and tanks move up in UN counteroffensive against retreating Chinese and North Koreans. Shells burst on the hills around Chorwon.

Reel 1: (part 2)
F-51 jet planes strafe and bomb Chinese-occupied hills as the advance of the UN forces continues.

Reel 1: (part 3)
U.S. troops, vehicles, artillery, and equipment struggle forward through mud and rain in North Korea as C-119 transports parachute supplies to the advancing forces.

Reel 1: (part 4)
155 mm artillery shells are fused, loaded into the guns, and fired on Chinese forces in the hills.
