1939 Newspaper headlines "Italy Attacks Albania". President Roosevelt sent a message to Hitler and Mussolini asking them to respect the the independence of 33 countries. To Hitler this was a joke as he repeated the names of the countries in the Reichstag. 1939 the German Army invades Poland, Warsaw as air raid siren sounds, German planes dropping bombs, fighting in Poland. Shows Americans listening to radio messages of war news. Scenes of British citizens preparing for war, people fitting on gas masks, England and France declares war on Germany. President Roosevelt calls a special session of Congress to make changes to Neutrality Law. Congress repeals arms embargo act. Brief war images of fighting between Japan and China. Animated map shows chain of American bases established to protect the Panama Canal. Adolf Hitler of Germany, Foreign Minister Galeazzo of Italy, and Ambassador Saburo Kurusu met in Berlin in 1940 and signed the Tripartite Pact or treaty (Pact of Berlin or Axis Pact) that established the Axis Powers of WWII as a threat to keep America out of the war. Tokyo celebrated, Rome cheered, and Berlin cheered the signing of the Pact of Berlin. Shows destruction of German bombing of England. Upon President Roosevelt request to Congress for additional funds to produce war materials, Congress passed the Lend-Lease Act.
