The first Air Corps in the world was born in February, 1908 when the U.S. Army contracted for a Wright airplane to stay in the air for one hour and fly at a speed of 40 mph. Lt. Lamh, Lt. Foulois, and Lt. Selfridge were detailed to aviation duty.
