In a series of victories without parallel the Germans have been blasted from one occupied territory after another. Shows liberation of Vichy. Port of Marseilles left in ruins. U-boat pens still under construction when Germans fled. Shows harbor at Toulon. Shows abandoned German coastal guns. Shows harbor at Le Havre. Shows Main Square in Brest after German surrender. Shows the people of Dover and their life underground. Calais is now in Canadian hands. As the Canadians approached a truce was granted for the evacuation of thousands of civilians across the Calais Canal. After the evacuation Allied bombers and artillery blasted the town.
Operation Market Garden which took place from September 17-25, 1944 by airborne troops of the First Allied Airborne Army (1st Allied Airborne Army) that included the American 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions. Shows drop of the American 82nd Airborne Troops at Grave, Netherlands. Excellent footage of the Nijmegen Bridge over the Waal River (Rhine or Rhein River in Germany). As part of Operation Market Garden, the British 1st Airborne Division and the Polish 1st Independent Parachute Brigade were dropped and glider-landed near Arnhem to secure the Arnhem Bridge.
