Synopsis: The Friendship 7 mission marks the first time that an American attempts to orbit the Earth. Historical footage of John Glenn’s suit up, ride out to the launch pad, countdown, liftoff, booster engine cutoff, and separation of the booster engine escape tower is shown.

Views of the Earth, Glenn’s manual control of the electrical fly-by wire system, and the recovery of the landing vehicle from the ocean are presented.
