CUBANS FLEE CASTRO:
The vanguard of 50,000 Cuban refugees expected to land in the next few weeks arrive in Florida. The unpredictable Castro suddenly decided that those who wished could leave Cuba and before the emigration got underway officially, scores crossed the Straits to Key West and Miami. President Johnson has asked Congress for an additional $12.5 millions dollars to care for the new residents.

DARTMOUTH DOWNS PENN 24 to 19:
A fighting Pennsylvania team comes to Hanover, New Hampshire, to take on Dartmouth and the Indians have their hands full overcoming the Pennsylvania Quakers who become the first team to score on the ground against Dartmouth this season before they go down- 24 to 19.

DODGERS WIN WORLD SERIES!!
The Minnesota Twins, after winning the first two games on their home ground, go down to defeat in the final two at Bloomington, Minn. The great Sandy Koufax, with only two days rest, pitches a three-hitter in the 7th game, striking out ten men to give the Dodgers a 2-0 victory!!

FAREWELL TO FAIR:
Two seasons and Fifty-One Million people after its gala opening, the New York World's Fair has a gala closing, too. A time capsule containing a record of this civilization...including newsreel film...is lowered into the earth for the enlightenment of people 5,000 years hence. The last flags are lowered, the final fireworks go off, and the great party's over.

Sixty thousand at the Los Angeles Coliseum see USC and Stanford battle for 52 scoreless minutes before things begin to pop. Mike Garrett takes off on a 76-yard touchdown journey that scatters the opposition. Rod Sherman makes the second Southern Cal score, and USC defeats Stanford 14 to 0.

OHIO STATE............7
Unbeaten Michigan State goes after its fifth straight against Ohio State. 75,000 at East Lansing see the run of the week when Clint Jones breaks loose and goes 80 yards for the first touchdown. That's only the beginning as the Michigan State Spartans take a bead on the Big Ten Crown and swamp Ohio State- 32 to 7.

In Washington, D.C., where it is celebrating 175 years of service protecting inventors, the Patent Office honors Leonardo da Vinci, one of the most inventive minds of all time. The form is an exhibit of the great Florentine's many anticipatory ideas such as a jack that foresees the flat tire and an airplane that suggest 20th Century aviation....a display concluded with a demonstration even he didn't foresee. A self-contained flying man who cavorts in the air before Washington Monument.

BRITAIN SEEKS OIL
There are new boom towns springing up in Europe - right smack in the middle of the North Sea. With the discovery of natural gas off the coast of the Netherlands, a half a dozen companies are probing for oil. They work from drilling platforms manned around the clock. Science is taking a great deal of the guess-work out of oil prospecting, but still this North Sea venture is a multi-million dollar gamble that will be either a complete bust or a fantastic bonanza.

SHADES OF AVIATION PAST
Look what the Germans have got airborne once again - there hasn't been a rigid airship aloft since the tragedy of the Hindenburg until now. It's a 20-foot model built by a Bavarian watchmaker and it would do Count Zeppelln proud as it flies over the roofs of the fascinated townsfolk.

PRINCETON "EDGES" PENN (51-0)
The Princeton Tiger goes for 14 straight victories and has no trouble with Pennsylvania as they run roughshod. It seems that touchdowns get so monotonous that they let Charlie Gogolak kick a field goal or two (or three, as it turns out).

MICHIGAN STATE TOPS IN BIG 10
The Spartans, undefeated, meet Purdue, one tie, in a game that may prove the Big Ten title. Purdue has command during the first three quarters, but Michigan State lets loose in the final fifteen minutes to score two touch-downs for a 14 to 10 victory. They can smell those Rose Bowl roses.

UNICEF WINS NOBEL PEACE PRIZE
The United Nations Children's Fund was founded after World War II to rescue the children of wartorn nations. That work completed, it turned its efforts in 1953 to aiding the youngsters of 118 nations in all parts of the globe. Hunger and disease recognize no national barriers and UNICEF has dispatched food and medicine to Asia and Africa, to Latin American and to Europe. It has been this dedicated work that has brought the Children's Fund the 1965 Nobel Prize. Here is a camera report on its work - and its aims. A filmed tribute to a cause all men embrace.

THE NATIONAL HORSE SHOW
When the National Horse Show opens in New York on the heels of the curtain going up on a new Metropolitan Opera season, you can be sure that New York's social life is back in full swing. The U.S. Equestrian team jumps into a big lead on opening night as diamonds and furs take a back seat to the brilliance of the performance in the ring.

NEW YORK ELECTS NEW MAYOR
John V. Lindsay, Republican-Liberal candidate for Mayor of New York, ends twenty years of Democratic rule as he runs ahead of two other candidates. In the three-cornered race, Lindsay runs ahead of Abraham Beame. Democrat, and he swamps the bid of William F. Buckley, Jr., the Conservative candidate. His election propels Lindsay onto the national political scene.

CHARLIE CHAPLIN RETURNS
At the Savoy Hotel in London, the movies' most famous clown announces that he is returning to motions picture - to direct Sophia Loren in a comedy. Charlie Chaplin has been away from films for 14 years, but he was persuaded to return to direct "The Countess" which will be released by Universal Pictures when completed.

OLE MISS SWAMPS L.S.U.
Louisiana Sate, leading ground-gainer in the Southeast Conference, is held to 12 yards rushing as Mississippi dominates the entire game. When the dust settles, Mississippi is on top by a whopping 23 to 0.

NEBRASKA DEFEATS MISSOURI
The Missouri Tigers throw a scare into defeated Nebraska before the Cornhuskers get going. Missouri runs up a 14 to nothing lead before Nebraska gets going, but at the half-time they still trail, 14-13. With five minutes left in the game Nebraska pulls it out of the fire with a 3-point field goal.

THE "HUMAN" BOMB":
For ten days, Nguyen Van Chin, a South Vietnamese civilian, was a walking booby trap while doctors pondered on how to remove a live grenade from his back. Finally, a bomb-proof operating room was constructed with sandbags. Using six-inch scalpels and probes, a team of three doctors spent 13 anxious minutes removing the live grenade and turning it over to a bomb disposal unit. Asks Van Chin: "When can I go home?"

PRINCESS MEG TOURS:
Princess Margaret of Britain is Seeing America at last and she begins in San Francisco - first stop on her three-week official visit. She rides a cable car and a Hovercraft and visits a nuclear laboratory before continuing her nation-wide tour.

ARKANSAS PARBOILS RICE:
The Arkansas Razorbacks make it 20 straight victories as they grind Rice into the dust...31 to 0. Jon Brittenum and Bobby Burnett star for Arkansas as the Razorback defensive squad stops all Rice attacks.

U C L A IS NEARER ROSE BOWL:
The California team take on the Washington Huskies and they have to come from behind - 24 - 14 at the Half to squeak through 28 to 24. Gary Beban runs for sixty yards and then passes for sixty more to score two late touch-downs. Everything is Coming Up Rose Bowl for U C L A.

TRAGEDY AT SEA:
Rescue vessels arrive in Nassau with survivors of a fire at sea. They were passengers on the vacation cruise of the Yarmouth Castle which caught fire at midnight and sank. Upwards of 80 are dead or missing in the worst sea disaster in American waters since the Morro Castle.

CUBAN EVACUEES ARRIVE IN U.S.:
Another mercy ship on a different mission arrives in Florida. A U.S. chartered vessel carries Cuban refugees stranded on the island when Castro ended the sea exodus. The U.S. will continue the sea evacuation until an airlift begins in a few weeks.

THE WAR LORD PREMIERES IN DETROIT
Things start popping in Detroit when fighting breaks out among Eleventh Century Warriors - but it's all in a good cause - the world premiere of "THE WAR LORD", a new Universal Pictures production that weaves a love story against a background of violence and warfare during the Dark Ages. Charlton Heston, Guy Stockwell and Henry Wilcoxon are on hand for the movie opening.

The stadium at Memphis is jumping as undefeated Tennessee takes on Mississippi in the Southeastern Conference. Tennessee scores first in a wide open game. Ole Miss ties it up, the Volunteers go ahead again, but miss the extra point to lead 13-7. Then Mississippi goes across in the last quarter but THEY make the extra point to end Tennessee's undefeated season - 14-13.
