Post-Armistice Inspection of U.S. Army Facilities
About This Footage
Shot in the months after the Korean War armistice, this rare 1954 reel documents the Under Secretary of the Army arriving in Pusan (Busan), South Korea, and touring key U.S. Army installations. Scenes include aircraft arrival and greetings on the ramp, signage and gates for the Pusan Military Post, Headquarters 7th Transportation Major Port, and the 225th Ordnance Base Depot, along with briefings, vehicles, and port activity at the UN logistics hub. Historically, the Under Secretary at this date was Earl D. Johnson, and the visit reflects the shift from active combat to stabilization, redeployment, and support of ROK forces. Ideal for documentaries, news features, and educational projects covering the Korean War aftermath, Cold War policy, and U.S.–ROK military relations.
