Films Of U.S. Victory In The Marshall Islands, 7th Army invasion of Kwajalein, Operation Flintlock. Animated map of the Marshall Islands. Kwajalein is bombarded by naval guns. Shows artillery batteries on a nearby atoll shelling Kwajalein, shows piles of empty shell cases. Landing craft loaded with 7th Army soldiers, spearheaded by the 111th Infantry Regiment, head for beach. U.S. Soldiers wear patches on their back to identify them to low flying U.S. aircraft providing close air support.
U.S. troops advance under heavy fire. U.S. machine gunner kills Japanese sniper in a tree, CU of dead Japanese sniper. Explosion destroys Japanese pillbox (bunker). U.S. tank advances. Flamethrower used to destroy building. Japanese soldiers surrender, given medical treatment, and water. Shows men and women (Japanese forced labors) huddled together. Each living Japanese soldier is registered as a prisoner of war (POW). Bodies of dead Japanese soldiers litter the island. American wounded are carried on litters to rear for medical treatment. Shows U.S. soldiers relaxing and eating. Admiral Nimitz and Army Lt. General Richardson visits Kwajalein. American flag is raised on Kwajalein.
