U.S. Troops Consolidated Pacific Islands
In the Mariana Islands Marianas artillery units on Saipan bombard Japanese positions on Tinian Island. Aerial view of landing crafts moving across the channel to invade Tinian. General Holland Smith in an amphibian vehicle. Marines in mopping up operation on Guam. Footage of Marines firing a mortar from a foxhole and firing a 50 caliber machine gun. Marines duck for cover as enemy returns fire. Scenes of dead Japanese soldiers. Marines raise the American flag once again over the island of Guam.
Brazilian Troops Disembark In Italy
Allied troops from Brazil, the first soldiers from the Brazilian Expeditionary Force BEF in WWII, arrive on a troop transport ship at the port of Naples, Italy and are welcomed by General Jacob L. Devers. General Mascarenhas de Moraes Commander of the Brazilian Expeditionary Force in Italy as the troops arrive in June 1944. Brazilian soldiers dis-embarking from troop transport ship carrying their army duffle bags or sea bags.
Pres. Roosevelt Visits Pacific War Theatre
President Franklin D. Roosevelt, General Douglas MacArthur, Admiral Chester W. Nimitz and Admiral William D. Leahy converse on a cruiser anchored in Pearl Harbor. United States sailors stand at salute. Riding in an open car President Roosevelt tours Pearl Harbor and observes a demonstration of small arms firing. Seated in an open car President Roosevelt reviews the 7th Division. Home again F.D.R. addresses large crowd of navy yard workers at Bremerton, Washington.
