Children sleep amid war ruins. German civilians meeting with British military officials, shoveling war rubble, repairing power lines and buildings.
Shows living conditions for civilians in German in 1946. Putting the German people back to work to provide fuel and food. Supervision of travel on limited means of transportation. Remaking of German Police Force and providing medical services. Shows religious services, children playing, and other scenes of daily life. Returning prisoners of war receive food and clothing, are interviewed and examined by doctors, and checked for SS mark under left arm. Most are demobilized. Germans suspected of war crimes are returned to the cage.
