Tropospheric Scatter Communication Site:
Duty assignment for members of the U.S. Army, Company A, 68th Signal Battalion at a tropo scatter communication site near Feldberg Germany. Shows radio antenna tower and interior of radio communication equipment room. Shows snow cat tractor used to travel up mountain to antenna tower site, helicopter lands in snow with communication tower in background.
Irradiation of Food:
Shows the process used by the U.S. Army to irradiate food to destroy the bacteria that causes food to spoil. A meat packing plant prepares fresh bacon sealed in a can to be irradiated so the bacon can be kept for an extended period of time without refrigeration. Shows an Army field chow or mess line.
Tunnel Rats In Vietnam:
U.S. soldiers enter and explore a Viet Cong tunnel complex in Vietnam. These “tunnel rats” recover valuable documents and arms left by the Vietcong communist insurgents in these man-made underground tunnels and caverns.

Freedom Foundation Awards In Valley Forge:
The Freedom Foundation at Valley Forge is well known for its educational and awards programs that promote the principles of freedom. Dr. Kenneth Wells speaks to Bob Hope by telephone and presents Bob Hope with the National Service Medal. Other awards are presented. The George Washington Award is given posthumously and accepted by the parents of Butch Strickland. Dr. Wells reads a letter found in Butch's duffel bag that he wrote to his parents before leaving on his fatal mission.
