Pacific Advance Continues
B-29 Super Fortresses continue air assault on Formosa, Japan's shipping center. Image of B-29 in flight.

General Douglas MacArthur and Admiral Ninitz plot the Pacific advance in WWII. At Morotai Island, part of the Western New Guinea WWII campaign, the Navy supports a new landing by MacArthur’s U.S. 6th Army. Troops wade ashore from landing craft. U.S. 6th Army soldiers and equipment battle the mud going ashore on Morotai Island, a small island in the Netherlands East Indies. Shows soldiers wading through mud, trucks being towed through mud at landing site on Morotai Island. Footage of MacArthur inspecting newly won Morotai.

Battle of Peleliu, code name Stalemate II. The 1st Marine Division, and later the 81st Infantry Division, suffer heavy losses in the battle for Peleliu. Shows wounded Marines being treated by combat medics. Footage of Marines advancing under constant fire and in intense fighting on Peleliu. This combat footage was recorded by Damien Parer, an Australian war photographer, who was killed by Japanese machine gun fire on Peleliu on September 17, 1944.

Stettinus Summarizes Dumbarton Oaks Conference
At the conclusion of the international security talks at the Dumbarton Oaks Conference in 1944 U.S. Underecretary of State Edward Stettinius Jr. summarizes the results. A proposal was worked out for an international organization that would keep world peace in the future by peaceful means and use of force if necessary. Note: This proposal for an international organization would later evolve into creating the United Nations or U.N.

Chinese Take Tengchunk On Burma Road
The Chinese 20th Group Army troops capture the city of Tengchung, Burma from the Japanese. Using ladders, the Chinese soldiers scale (storm) the walls of this ancient city. Shows intense street fighting as Chinese troops kill or capture all 2000 Japanese soldiers occupying the town. Shows Chinese soldier displaying a captured Japanese flag.

Ploesti Oil Fields Devastated
Captured Axis film show the damage and destruction of the oil refineries at Ploesti Romania after bombing by Allied planes.
