Lt. Comdr. Mildred McAfee, Director of the Women's Naval Reserve (U.S.N.R) christens the aircraft carrier Franklin. A destroyer is launched on the Great Lakes. Built upside down and then slowly rolled upright for launching.

Chinese in Toronto parade in honor of the Chinese ambassador to Canada.

Shows military convoys and drivers on the Alcan Highway. Sign shows start of Alaska Highway from Edmonton Alberta to Fairbanks Alaska.

Ground artillery and U.S. planes blast the enemy as the 5th Army fight in Italy. Tanks and troops move into an Italian town. General Clark watches as troops clean out snipers with rifle fire, machine gun fire and mortar fire.
