British field artillery and tank fire pounds German positions in the Caen Sector of northern France. Troops advance through villages and care for civilians. Teenage German prisoners of war (young German POW’s) are shown. flail tanks are shown clearing a mine field.

Capture of Cherbourg. American troops enter Cherbourg. Shows column of German POW’s (prisoners of war). The 6th Airborne Division receives supplies by parachute from British planes. Shows destruction of German coastal fortifications. Shows massive launching platform for German V-1 flying bombs that fell into Allied hands before construction could be completed. Allied ships move into position and turn their large naval guns on Cherbourg. Shows infantry fighting street by street in Cherbourg. Germans surrender under color of white flag. Prisoners are searched and moved to the rear. General J.L. Collins accepts the surrender of German officers.
