First pictures from Japan after the atomic bomb blasts. Shows aerial views and close-ups of Hiroshima and Nagaski. Firebombs burned out the city of Osaka. Kure and areas of Toyko were destroyed by conventional bombs dropped by Allied aircraft. Shows American soldiers freed from Ofuna prisoner of war camp in Japan.
President Harry Truman goes to a baseball game for the first time in five years to see the Washington team play St. Louis. Truman throws out the game ball.
General Wainwright, hero of Bataan, arrives in San Francisco and views a parade in his honor. Next stop is Washington D.C. where he is greeted by his wife. The General and his wife ride in a parade route to the Washington Monument where is greeted by thousands. On the lawn of the White House General Wainwright receives the Congressional Medal of Honor from Truman.
