Submarines Of Japanese Navy Sunk By U.S.
At Sasebo Naval Base in Japan 24 Japanese submarines are lined up for their last voyage. The subs will be loaded with explosives, pulled to sea, and shelled by the cruiser Chicago. Among the subs is I-58, a cruiser Type-B Japanese submarine that sunk the heavy cruiser USS Indianapolis (CA-35) in the Philippine Sea. Shows the cruiser USS Chicago firing at the Japanese submarines.

U.S. Town Cleaned With DDT Insecticide
Columbus, Georgia and vicinity is sprayed with the miracle insecticide DDT and cleared of debris in a major health drive. Sewers, homes, stores, dairies are sprayed. Young boy runs out of an out-house being sprayed with DDT.

Gold Rush In Canadian Town

Cypress trees are felled in the Florida Everglades. A railroad is built and used to carry trees. Railroad cars loaded with logs headed to the mill.

U.S. Marks First Anniversary of Roosevelt's Death
The family home of Franklin D. Roosevelt in Hyde Park New York becomes a national shrine. President Truman and Mrs Roosevelt pays homage at the grave site of FDR. Flashback to April 1945 as the nation mourned the death of Franklin Roosevelt. Shows Roosevelt's casket on horse drawn caisson. Persons shown at the dedication of the home is Trygve Lie, Secretary General of the UN and Andrei Gromyko. Mrs. Roosevelt giving dedication of home and land speech. President Truman pays tribute to FDR. Interior and exterior views of the Roosevelt home.
