Synopsis: In the 1940’s America moved away from coal and became dependent on oil and natural gas as the major sources of energy. As energy needs increased finding alternate sources of energy became critical. Most alternate sources of energy are years away, but America has an abundance of coal. This film deals with the ways coal fired electrical generating power plants can burn coal and meet environmental standards.
Scenes Include: Using coal for home heating in the 1940’s, Coal fired home furnace/boiler, coal fired railroad locomotive, oil well pumps, strip mining equipment and machinery, freight train, coal cars, coal fired power plant, fly ash precipitator, scrubbers to remove sulphur. |
