Pro Football Green Bay Packers Win Pro Title
(this is not a SuperBowl which began in 1967)
Green Bay 16
New York Giants 7
It’s 17 degrees in New York as dedicated fans pack Yankee Stadium to see their Giants meet Green Bay for the professional title. It takes more than the weather to slow the Packer machine as Jerry Kramer kicks three Green Bay field goals and they wind up the champs again. 16-7.
The College Bowl Games Of 1963:
Rose Bowl
So. California 42
Wisconsin 37
Just about all offensive records in the 49-year history of the Rose Bowl are broken as the Trojans down the Badgers, but not without a fright. Wisconsin scores 23 points in a wild last quarter and almost catches up with the number one ranked team.
Cotton Bowl
LSU 13
Texas 0
75,000 in Dallas see Louisiana State meet the Texas Longhorns. Lynn Amedee is all over the gridiron for Louisiana as he recovers his own kicks, passes for touchdowns and kicks field goals as LSU wins. 13-0.
Sugar Bowl
Mississippi 17
Arkansas 13
Glynn Griffing plays some sweet football in his final game for Mississippi as he sparks their victory over Arkansas. The Razorbacks manage to tie up the game twice but they can’t compete with Griffing as Mississippi wins. 17-13.
Orange Bowl
Alabama 17
Oklahoma 0
The fans squeeze the last drop of excitement out of the Orange Bowl as Alabama rolls over Oklahoma. Here, too, there’s a star as Joe Namath passes the Crimson Tide to a 17-0 victory.
