A crowd of 200,000 sees 33 starters get away in the Golden Anniversary running of the Indianapolis Speedway classic. A five-car pile-up slows the race after the first hour, but no one is injured. A.J Foyt of Houston, Texas wins the richest race ever run on the brick and asphalt track.
