Synopsis: Attorney General Eric Holder appeared before the House Judiciary Committee on May 13, 2010 and gave a brief overview of the accomplishments of the Department of Justice the past year. Holder said “protecting Americans against terrorism remains the highest priority of the Department of Justice”. Holder described the attempt by Fasal Shahzad to detonate a car bomb in Times Square, New York City and said since January 2009 14-people have been indicted in Minnesota in connection with travel to Somalia to train and fight with terrorist group Al Shabab, that David Headley was apprehended and plead guilty in providing assistance in the 2008 Mumbai, India terrorist attack, and the plot to bomb Northwest Airlines Flight 253 by Abdul Mudallad failed. Holder also described the work done in the areas of protecting our environment, health care fraud, anti-trust laws, and work done to safeguard civil rights. |
