President Obama stated “in May the economy added 431,000 jobs which is the 5th month in a row we have seen job gains”. He did add “most of the jobs added in May were workers added to complete the 2010 census”.

President Obama also stated these numbers do not mean an end to the recession, but it does mean we are headed in the right direction and the economic policies we put into place is working. The economy has been growing for the past 3-quarters. He also stated “shoring up the auto industry was not popular, but it was the right thing to do”.

In closing President Obama said “let me tell you what we can't do. As we start to climb out of this hole that was dug for us, we can't go back to the policies that failed us in the last decade”.
