The retreating Japanese set fire to City of Manila. Shows Filipino people fleeing as flames engulfed Manila. Shows civilians executed by the Japanese. U.S. machine gun teams in buildings firing across the Pasig River (Ilog River). Tanks and artillery fighting. American troops cross Pasig River in small boats and fought street by street and into the walled Fortress of Intramuros. Bodies of dead Japanese soldiers. American soldier gives a child in bed a drink of water. Shows Filipino children, some wounded. Men, women, and children (civilians) are taken by boat across the river, others walk across pontoon bridge. General Douglas MacArthur looks at Corregidor across Manila Bay.
